As the new year dawned, Montgomery County welcomed a wave of leadership transitions, including the swearing-in of the new Precinct 3 Commissioner. Former Shenandoah Mayor Ritch Wheeler, who triumphed over incumbent James Noack in Novemberโs election, has already begun reshaping the office and setting the tone for his tenure.
Wheelerโs role unofficially began even before his inauguration. At the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Timber Lakes/Timber Ridge Volunteer Fire Department station late last year, Wheeler, initially attending as a spectator, was asked to address attendees in the absence of an elected official. This impromptu leadership moment reflected his readiness to step into the position.
Wasting no time, Wheeler initiated community engagement with a meet-and-greet at the Community Fieldhouse, where constituents had the opportunity to hear his vision for Precinct 3. His proactive approach has resonated with residents eager for fresh leadership.
To build a strong foundation for his administration, Wheeler assembled a skilled team of experienced professionals. Among his key hires is Ronda Trow, now Director of Public Affairs, whose impressive credentials include roles with the Harris-Galveston Subsidence District, San Jacinto River Authority, The Howard Hughes Corporation, and her own communications firm, TROW Communications, LLC.
Another strategic addition is Matt Beasley, who brings a wealth of institutional knowledge to his new role as Chief of Staff. Beasley, formerly part of the previous commissionerโs team and a Justice of the Peace for Precinct 3, rejoined the office at Wheelerโs request. Beasleyโs resignation as JP paved the way for the appointment of Jay Mac Sanders as interim Justice of the Peace by the Commissioners Court, marking Wheelerโs first significant decision in his new capacity.
Wheeler faces logistical challenges as he begins his term. The Precinct 3 offices require refurbishment, and the previous official website, precinct3.org, was taken offline. In response, Wheelerโs team is developing a new digital presence. The revamped website, www.mctxpct3.org, set to launch within a week, will provide residents with essential services, including updates on local events, emergency alerts, and work order submissions. Complementing the website will be newly established social media platforms aimed at enhancing transparency and communication.
Despite these initial hurdles, Wheelerโs administration is charging ahead with determination. โOur focus is to move forward and make positive changes in Precinct 3,โ said Trow. โWe are committed to being accessible and transparent, with open doors and a dedicated team that has already hit the ground running.โ
With a clear vision and an experienced team, Wheeler is poised to lead Precinct 3 into a new era of growth and community engagement.
